Located in an industrial park in Concord, Ontario our client’s roofing business required increased office and shop space. The renovation was to be energy efficient with abundant natural light and an enhanced building envelope, and the building was to remain occupied and operational during construction. MOSS SUND’s solution was to slip a second storey office addition over the existing first storey masonry structure, with a new steel structure installed to the exterior side of the existing walls. This approach allowed a new, continuous, and high-performance envelope to wrap the building. Operable windows and roof monitors provide abundant natural light and ventilation, while a cold weather air source heat pump VRF mechanical system provides efficient space conditioning. The concrete fiber panels and metal cladding present a contemporary industrial aesthetic in keeping with the surrounding buildings.
This is our fourth collaboration with this wonderful client.
